Discover the History of Port Sunlight

This is no mere museum village or replica. Port Sunlight was built in 1888 and is one of the few Victorian model villages that has been preserved meticulously to the last detail. The village was built by William Lever, of the Lever Brothers. The Victorian industrialist was in the soap business, and the village was created to house his workers. It was named after the Lever Brothers’ most famous product, Sunlight Soap.

But William Lever did not stop there. He invested the profits of the company back into Port Sunlight, creating what is best described as a fairytale Victorian village.
